Alternative House is seeking passionate, community-minded leaders to join our Board of Directors. Board members play a critical volunteer role in guiding our mission to provide safety, support, and hope for individuals and families affected by domestic violence.
What Board Members Do
Our Board oversees the governance, strategic direction, and financial health of the organization. Members work collaboratively to ensure Alternative House operates ethically, transparently, and effectively. Key responsibilities include:

Supporting long-term strategic planning and organizational oversight

Reviewing budgets, policies, and financial reports

Participating in fundraising and community engagement

Serving on at least one committee or event team

Providing thoughtful leadership, expertise, and advocacy
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome individuals who bring a genuine passion for our mission and a commitment to ethical governance, collaboration, and community service. Strong communication skills, a willingness to engage in fundraising, and the ability to leverage personal or professional networks are highly valued. Prior leadership or nonprofit experience is helpful but not required.
Commitment
Board members typically commit a few hours per month. Meetings are held every other month, with additional time dedicated to committee participation and supporting events.
